Turtles are a joyful surprise to meet and swim with. Swimming with turtles can be done directly from the beach. The same snorkeling equipment is used as when swimming with the dolphins joining them from a boat. We can also join them from the beach. The island where we swim with the dolphins is called The Big Island of Hawaii. It has the shape of a turtle. For many cultures, turtles carry great symbolic meaning: for the Japanese - long life; for the Chinese - fertility; vitality and patience; for the Polynesians - fertility and long life; for the Iroquois Indians - wisdom and for many American Indian tribes, Mother Earth.
